Established in 1995 in alignment with the National Policy of Education, 1986, DIET Morigaon seeks to strengthen the teaching-learning ecosystem through continuous professional development, academic leadership and reflective practices. Its vision focuses on empowering teachers with relevant knowledge, pedagogical skills and a strong sense of accountability, enabling them to move beyond traditional methods towards child-centered, experiential and inclusive learning environments. Guided by the principles of NEP 2020, the institute aims to enhance learning outcomes at the Elementary and the Secondary levels by fostering innovation, research and sustainable educational practices across the district.
Morigaon DIET refers to the District Institute of Education and training(DIET) , Morigaon, Assam, established on 8th May 1995. The institute focuses on teacher training, educational research and the improvement of elementary education quality in the district. It serves as a key academic hub, offering programmes like D.El.Ed and B.Ed., and plays an integral role in Assam's education system by working towards national educational goals through innovative practices and support and capacity building. DIET, Morigaon aims to develop and in course of time become a Centre of excellence for teacher training and academic support in Morigaon district . The institute conducts action research, case studies and research projects and promotes innovative teaching-learning practices including the integration of ICT. In essence, DIET Morigaon is a vital government body for improving teaching standards and educational outcomes in the Morigaon district through training and academic support. For community development initiatives DIET, Morigaon adopted Oujari village under Bhurbandha Block focusing on skill development vocational education, life skills, social skills and cultural development . Short term training courses are conducted every Saturday with the support of ITI, Morigaon.DIET, Morigaon consistently promotes outstading creativity and innovative works not only within the campus but also beyond it. The institute actively addresses social concerns by conducting awareness programmes like Environment Day, plantation, celebration drives, Art & craft training, Best school Awards, "Guest of the month", where guest are invited from outside the district to deliver lectures and various academic and orientation programmes. Through these initiatives DIET, Morigaon strives to emerge as a leading educational hub of the district.
