Department of DIET, Morigaon, Assam

1. Pre-Service Teacher Education (PSTE):

1. PSTE emphasises pre-service teacher education and training. 

2. It organises and conducts teacher education programmes.

3. The branch advocates learner-centred and inclusive pedagogy.

4. It designs suitable teaching methods and learning materials.

5. PSTE facilitates academic guidance and professional development. 

6. It promotes innovation and research in teaching. 

7. The branch strengthens classroom practices and teaching quality.

 

2. Work Experience (WE):

1. To identify locally relevant work education areas and in cooperation with concerned nodal branches to develop low-cost, no-cost teaching-learning material.

2. To organise activities for cleanliness and development of the institute campus, roads, playground, lawns, gardens, classroom etc. and its surroundings.

3. To provide WE-related inputs into all other programmes and activities of the institute e.g. D.El.Ed. course and in-service teacher training programmes.

4. To promote work-related hobbies and skill based work among trainees of the institute.  

 

3. District Resource Unit (DRU):

A. Training and Capacity Development

1.       To organize orientation programs for Adult/Non-formal education's (AE/NFE) instructors, supervisors, officials and community members.

2.       Providing resource support for programs (AE/NFE) outside DIET.

B. Material Development

1.       To develop and disseminate instructional and training materials for Adult and Non-formal education in the district.

C. Supervision, Monitoring and Evaluation

2.       To evaluate and monitor different training programs on AE/NFE and its effectiveness in the district.

3.       To supervise on going programs on AE/NFE.

D. Academic and Field level Support

1.       To act as core academic unit in the district regarding academic issues related to AE/NFE.

2.       Interactions with field level functionaries of AE/NFE.

3.       To work for the participatory involvement of community members for better result regarding AE/NFE education.

4.       To provide AE/NFE related inputs for all programs of the institute, especially D.El.Ed. and B.Ed. programs.

E. Research/Action Research

1.       To conduct ACTION RESEARCH to improve AE/NFE activities/programs.

2.       To conduct NEED BASED STUDIES.

F. Coordination and Collaboration

1.       Coordination with District/Block level educational functionaries.

2.       Coordination with the functionaries of Samagra Shiksha.

To coordinate and collaborate with other govt. deptts/NGOs/Private parties etc. for holistic development. 

4. In-Service Programmes, Field Interaction and Innovation Coordination (IFIC):

1. In-Service Teacher Professional Development: IFIC shall plan, organise and coordinate need-based in-service training programmes for elementary teachers, headmasters, and block-level functionaries to improve classroom practices and academic leadership.

2. Field Interaction and Academic Support: IFIC will maintain continuous linkage with schools and other related institutions, providing on-site academic support, mentoring, follow-up and feedback to ensure effective implementation of training outcomes at the classroom level.

3. Innovation and Action Research: IFIC shall promote educational innovation and action research by identifying district-specific challenges, experimenting with new pedagogical practices and documenting best practices for replication across school.

4. Coordination Across DIET Branches: IFIC will function as a converging platform, ensuring coordination among all the branches so that in-service programmes are holistic, relevant and aligned with district priorities.

5. Community and Institutional Engagement: IFIC shall support community involvement in education by collaborating with SMCs, Mothers' Group etc. and local institutions and by facilitating orientation programmes that strengthen school-community partnerships.

5. Curriculum, Material Development and Evaluation (CMDE):

1. Curriculum development in school education and its adaptation.

2. Development of Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) related to the curriculum.

3. Introduction and adaptation of innovative methods for both continuous and summative assessment.

4. Development of a range of evaluation tools and techniques.

5. Organisation of various programmes and activities for both pre-service and in-service teachers to ensure the proper use of the curriculum.

 

6. Education Technology (ET):

Create affordable and straightforward teaching and learning materials (such as charts, diagrams, models, videos, audio clips, animations, photographs, slides, etc.) for different subjects relevant to elementary and secondary education. Collaborate closely with DIET staff and other resource experts to ensure effectiveness. This department is responsible for managing the ICT classes, overseeing the Computer Lab, handling DIKSHA, coordinating online broadcasts and communications, and maintaining all audio-visual equipment at the institute.

 

7. Planning and Management (P & M):

Maintain the database of the district to plan educational intervention as per district needs and monitor facilities in UEE/NLM, provide resources support to educational authorities for school mapping, institutional planning etc. coordinates with different stakeholders such as BRCs, CRCs, govt. bodies for proper execution of various educational programs.
